Selwyn Rowley BLOK Container Systems (BCS) Director of Sales & Marketing appears in the Automation 1 Session of the TOC Global Showcase and the presentation is now available to view.

Selwyn is highlighting the need to focus on equipment and systems to improve crane productivity as there are improvements to be made in the areas of ‘multiple container handling’ and ‘mechanising twistlocking’ if automation is to be a real success and gain wider take up.

BLOK is working at London Container Terminal, Tilbury as a test bed for new equipment and with other leading terminals in the UK and elsewhere.

BLOK products enable Ship-To-Shore (STS) cranes to handle more containers per hour safely, allowing container terminals flexibility to turn vessels around faster and shipping lines to save fuel and emissions. The combination of automated pinning and tandem lifting provide crane efficiency savings of 30% or more.

The BLOK Rig automated pinning system works for all containers, under the crane or in a ‘pinning station’ environment and facilitates single and tandem lifting. The BLOK Tandem Spreader clips to any single spreader in 10 seconds and delivers great productivity improvements in empty handling without requiring STS Crane upgrades. Additional BLOK quayside landing equipment protects the quay surface from twistlocks.
