From automation to sustainability the Virtual Conference 15th to 18th March, will showcase the latest initiatives and has a global reach.

You can watch the BLOK Container Systems presentation about ‘how to improve crane productivity by 30% or more and boost terminal profitability’, live or on-demand, see more at our virtual trade stand and contact us direct.

Container terminals have a challenge to turn around vessels more quickly and more use of ‘multiple handling’ of shipping containers is a key to unlock this challenge. Likewise manual ‘twistlocking’ has been a barrier to full automation. BLOK has developed equipment and systems which provide answers to these challenges.

BLOK equipment includes: autonomous BLOK Spreaders which transform single spreaders to tandem spreaders for empties (over 60 per cent of outbound containers in some terminals); remote control twistlocking machines that fit and remove the locks that connect containers together and have the potential to reduce the need for labour at the quayside; wide trailers that jig pairs of containers for tandem handling operations and reduce the number of tugs or AGVs, with one vehicle able to move 2 laden or 4 empty 40’ containers. For terminals wanting to achieve safe vertical tandem lifting (VTL) of 2 empty containers BLOK Cert Is a patented system for inspecting and certifying pairs of SAT linked containers with a 3 x working load proof test, compatible with OSHA and LOLAR requirements.

To assist container terminals with the choice of equipment for particular needs, BLOK has created an online Solution Builder Find Your Solution (blokcontainersystems.com) which quickly identifies the crane efficiency savings that are possible by adding items from the BLOK product range.
