Tender A for Design and Testing Services

The ‘BLOK Container System’ has been designed to improve the efficiency of container terminal operations. It comprises one (or more) of a Spreader (to pick up to 4 empty containers), a Rig (for twistlock removal and VTL testing), Cert (for accredited certification of the VTLs) and a Terminal Trailer for jigging and transporting multiple containers.

The work required:

Following successful trials of the BLOK Spreader BCS now invites tenders from experienced qualified mechanical engineering consultants to integrate the trial results and verify these upgrades. This will require revised briefs and specifications (mechanical, structural, electrical, software) of the Spreader and associated components, produce supporting calculations, FEA analysis, engineering drawings, updates to software and debugging. The designer is to be familiar with OSHA, ICHCA, SOLAS, LOLER, Machinery Directive and other applicable regulations.
The successful applicant will also need to produce brief and specification for the design of mechanism and structure of a BLOK Rig, Adaptor and twistlock removal cassette and produce supporting mechanical analysis, FEA, structural calculations, engineering drawings and procure 3D printing for initial proof of concepts and design iteration.
We also require systems analysis and research, brief and specification to process BLOK Cert design and development and oversee implementation of Cert and its field trials.
Testing and certification of the BLOK Spreader, BLOK Rig, Adaptor & cassette is important and we would require you to produce designs engineering drawings for test rigs and oversee production and commissioning of test rigs, run fatigue analysis, and bench testing using test rigs, process testing and development and appoint a Witness Surveyor and produce certification documentation and CE marking.
The work is to commence in May and be completed by September 2019
A fixed price quotation and completion date of the design is required. All and any shortcomings or unknowns to complete the tender are to be identified.
